Happy New Year!

WOW! It's hard to believe today we end 2010 and welcome in 2011!

My 2010 had some high notes and a few low, very low notes too.  Old Man River could be heard playing in the background of my low notes.

Anyway, with a new year comes hopes for more time with loved ones, new friends, new business, a better understanding of my 2010 low notes, good health and above all else a better understanding of God's plan for me.

I wish for you pretty much the same, except for understanding my 2010 low notes, unless you just like hearing Old Man Riverhaha!

So whether you are celebrating the new year with friends,

while wearing a silly hat,

or spending a quiet night at home watching movies, snacking and snuggling

have a safe, fun, and wonderful start to the new year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Blues at Christmas

I've found a lovely blogger, Smiling Sally, who loves blue.  She hosts Blue Monday.

Blue is my second favorite color, next to pink so I looked around my home this morning and thought I'd join in on her special day.

My kitchen is painted blue.  Of course I still get in some pink wherever possible!

My kind of Santa! I am not a fan of snow!

Blue tea time.

One of my pretty ladies in her blue finest!

Found a set of these gorgeous plates at Marshall's last summer.  I use them around the house as accent pieces.  I love the big, blue roses.

Well, that does it for my Blue Christmas display today.

Please be sure and visit Smiling Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/. Tell her I sent you!

Also, I'm still getting into the blogging thing and I would appreciate comments and followers.

Have a happy day.

Christmas Open House

I love Christmas decorations.  Once I start decorating, if it isn't moving or if I can catch it, it's probably going to get at least a bow on it!

The glow of all the little, twinkling lights throughout the house are so pretty and peaceful.  And nothing is better than the feeling you get when you see that special ornament from your childhood or remembering how child's face when they spot that cute angel they'd forgotten about.

We use to put a tree in almost every room of our home but now being "empty nesters" we only put my victorian tree in the Great Room and hubby has his Washington Redskin tree in his hideout.

Every room still gets some Christmas glitter of some kind be it lighted garland or an old Santa!

Take a peek at our Christmas.  Hope your holiday is special and brings you many wonderful memories to share and keep close in your heart for many years to come!

Our Great Room ready for our annual Open House

I love the french doors with the garland.  The wreath was a gift my daughter made me.

Love Santas!

Mom gave me this new mantle scarf with what else?  Santa!

My mother-in-law gave me this set of carolers many years ago.

Merry Christmas!

I'm still learning about linking to some of the wonderful bloggers out there but My Romantic Home with Cindy was the first one I found a long time back and I just love all her things so I'm attempting to link to her.  Check her site out. You won't be disappointed!  http://romantichome.blogspot.com/

Snowy Day Means Stay Home and Play Day

Merry Christmas!

It's been snowing here in Chester since about 8 am this morning.  We here in Chester tend to panic and definately cannot drive well in the snow!  I'm fortunate in that I can work from home.  It's a good thing because I hate to drive in the snow and ice.  I got stuck on the interstate in the snow a few years ago and a drive that should have taken no more than 40 minutes turned into a 4 hour stop, slide, hold my breath while others slid by me, terrible ride home.  I'm a summer girl.  Warm tropical temps make me smile NOT cold ones!!

Anyway, I hope those that can stay home do and those who must be out in this 3 to 5 inches can be safe.

I'm taking the day to work on posting pictures of my Christmas decorating.  I love to decorate for Christmas.  We had our annual Open House last weekend and I received many compliments on the Christmas decor throughout the house.  Even the guys commented!  These compliments made me feel so good.  It's nice to share our home with our friends and although I am not cook, I do pretty good with the "party foods" and I can do some darn good desserts. So, it was a great night with special folks.

I'll get to posting some pics soon.  In the meantime, the crock pot is cooking what I hope turns out to be some good swiss steak for later and I think a day like today calls for some cookies.

Hope everyone is enjoying the season with loved ones.

Take care,

Cindy

Halloween Decor and Fun

Well, it's Halloween night.  All the little ghost and goblins have made their rounds through the neighborhood and all is quieting down now.  Even though our little goblins have moved out and are on their own, I still think it's fun to decorate.

I hope a safe and fun holiday was had by all.  Now on to November.  November! I cannot believe how fast this year has gone by.  Oh well, I think I hear some silver bells starting ring my name!

Take care,
Cindy

Fun in the Sun Time!

Hello everyone!

Just checking in.  Hubby and myself got away for a couple of days last week.  We love going to North Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.Hubby took me there for our very trip away together 25 years ago.  That trip was where we knew we had something special, and so it's continued to be a special place to us.

Over the years we've vacationed with the kids there and spent time with friends and family there.  It's the one place I can go and feel peace.  No matter how rough things may be in my real world, sitting on the beach with my hubby and feeling that sun always makes the world better.

We had so much fun just enjoying the ocean air, sun and beach during the day.  We had a great ocean front room with a wonderful balcony. Of course that's where I was each evening.  There was a full moon too. Absolutely beautiful shining over the ocean.  Each evening was topped off with fireworks being set off along the beach.

We also love to dance.  Have you ever heard of the "Shag"?  Well it's a dance, very popular in the south, especially in Myrtle Beach where it originated back in the '40's (I think).  We made sure we did some shagging while we there too!

Well, hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of summer fun.  Have a safe and happy Labor Day.

Open House-Aug 22, 2010-Hopewell, Virginia

Hi,
Hope everyone is doing well.
I've been so busy working with new clients.  It's great. One of the best parts of my job is meeting new people.  When clients come to me for assistance in starting their search for their dream home, they are usually so excited and of course a little scared.  I enjoy putting them at ease by explaining the "search" process.  Once they understand how it works and see and hear all the information I can provide to them throughout the entire process, then they can concentrate on the criteria of what their dream home wants and needs are.

This Sunday I am holding an Open House at one of my listings. This home is a colonial tri-level with 4 nice size bedrooms and 2 full baths.  The seller has taken very good care of this home and completed many updates both to the interior and exterior.

This home is within minutes to Ft. Lee, Virginia.  It is also near schools and lots of shopping and restaurants.  Ft. Lee is expanding and any family moving to this area may want to check out all this home has to offer.

If you are in the area Sunday between 2 and 4 pm, stop by and see this home for yourself.  I'll have refreshments and info available for you.

Record Breaking Heat All Week

It's going to be another "HOT" week here in Virginia.  The grass is already crunchy!  I watered all the flowers this morning.

This little guy is already relaxing with his smug look like "bring it on, I'm enjoying the sun and having fun."

Hope you have a fun day too!

Some of My Favorite Things

Well, thought I'd share a picture today that shows several of my favorite things.  I love china patterns, especially with roses, anything PINK, and wicker!

This tea set is part of a large set I have had since I was young.  My Mom started collecting this china for me.  It was one of those sets you could buy a piece of each week at the grocery store.  I loved blue and knew even then that I wanted china!  Mom started out planning to only purchase the teapot, sugar and creamer but she got carried away.  She eventually purchased enough pieces that I have more than an eight place setting and several serving pieces too!  We had fun looking forward to each week to see which piece was the special of the week.  I have collected other china patterns but this one will always be closests to my heart.  It isn't extremely valuable.  We've picked up pieces at garage sales and such.  To me it's priceless because of how hard my Mom worked to save and buy each piece and of the fun we had.  Good thing I still love blue and flowers!
I got this topiary many years ago at a local florist shop.  I was hoping to get two just alike for my mantel but they didn't have enough of the roses or another planter like this one.  I have used it all over the house.

Don't these little ladies look like they're having fun at their tea party?  My oldest daughter, Kristi, gave me this little statue for a birthday present a few years ago.  I just love it.  I have several of these little ladies now, each doing something different.  They're so sweet and of course, I think of my sweet Kristi every time I look at these ladies!

I don't know if you can see it well in this picture but the lace table cover here has teapots and teacups made throughout it.  It's really made for one of those round cardboard tables as an overlay.  I've put it over lots of tables and used it many ways too.

Lastly, is this wicker chest of drawers.  I absolutely love wicker. It's so versatile.  This piece has been in a bedroom, the front porch and now in the dining room keeping extra placemats and tablecloths safe.

Well, that's a little about some of my favorites.  Let me know what your favorites are!

Until next time, have a safe and happy evening!
